The beauty and relaxation that is provided by nature and the great outdoors is a common design element that is often incorporated into the design on the inside of the home. With thoughtful design and planning the outdoor living space can create that special oasis that allows the home to flow to the outdoors. Decks and patios are a way to complement the exterior construction of a home as well as provide space to entertain guests and family. Pergolas, gazebos, and fencing can also be used to create special outdoor rooms. Grilling and barbecue spaces are also common ways to create an outdoor kitchen.
In the photos above show a project where the original house had a small unusable deck that was poorly designed. We partnered with a local architect to design the deck shown in order to accommodate a gas fireplace and provide almost twice the space of the original deck. This has become the most popular “room” in the house even in the colder spring and fall months in the mountains of Park City.
Following is a beautiful New Deck Build in Park City with stunning views we recently completed.
We encourage you to visit the above project page, not to just enjoy our work but the views that are only appreciated by those familiar with the area.
The photo above shows a beautiful outdoor living space located in the Emigration Canyon. The deck was originally a composite material. The composite was replaced with the beautiful Tiger Wood which is an exotic hardwood. Care was taken to carefully scribe into the beautiful stonework walls surrounding the garden and terraces. The wood was sealed to preserve the color and beauty of the wood. The flow of the deck leads to the garden and the hot tub. The doors to the deck are now open as often as they are closed truly making this part of the living space.
The deck in the above photo was added to a classic split-level home located in the Millcreek area. We had to remove some of the exterior brick and create a structural opening to install the large sliding glass door. The results were fantastic as the deck allows you to walk out the living room and enjoy the valley views with the Oquirrh Mountains in the distance. The cable railings provide a clean contemporary look without distracting from the views.
Our final photo located in Sandy City is a deck over a garage. We removed the existing structure and waterproofed the surface with a waterproof coating that provides the textured finish. The custom railing and staircase were fabricated by a talented team of welders. The powder coated top and post were accented by a stainless infill to approximate a cable railing without the cost, maintenance and logistical challenges that a cable railing would pose on the long runs needed.
