Sugarhouse is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Salt Lake. Originally two words ‘Sugar House’ was named from a sugar beet factory that was located in a former blacksmith shop. This area has a rich history dating from 1853. Many of the homes in the neighborhood are over 100 years old. Sugarhouse is full of diverse cultures, activities, and architecture. To learn more about living in the area and community events please visit the SugarHouse official website here.
Crossbeam Builders takes great pride in renovating the timeless architecture in this neighborhood. Whether you are looking to upgrade to modern or restore back to its original glory we desire to be your contractor of choice.
The picture on the top of this page features a top to bottom renovation of a home that was built before electricity was installed in homes. Our goal was to restore it as close to its original state as possible. Details such as cedar shakes, copper flashings, and dentil moldings restored to their original condition. Updating the windows and insulation make this a cozy and efficient house as well. On the interior old-style push-button switches, walnut countertops and copper farm sink.
If you are familiar with Sugarhouse you appreciate space can be a challenge. In the photo below you will notice a spacious kitchen. By removing a wall, we were able to transform this small galley style kitchen into a welcoming and warm space.
In this next picture, you will find yet another typical Sugarhouse challenge. How do you take a traditional bathroom layout and make it fabulous? While we can’t always make a space larger, we can make it spectacular! Look at the tile and craftsmanship that went into updating this older bathroom. The tile accent custom vanity and granite countertop transformed this basement bath into a space to be proud of!

We had a great experience working with Crossbeam Builders. They finished on time and on budget and were in contact with us every step of the way. We would happily work with them again on our next home improvement project.

Chris at Crossbeam Builders is very professional and is there when he says he is going to be. He is very precise in his work. He never left a mess and finished the project before the estimate time limit and was under budget. I wouldn’t hesitate in hiring him again for another job!
